Betsy DeVos consults MRA groups about campus sexual assault laws

Radical Christian extremist Betsy DeVos is preparing to modify 2011 guidance from the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights that mandates colleges take more concrete steps to protect victims of campus sexual assault. She’s doing so with the help of a so-called men’s rights group whose president is on record as saying “this so-called rape crisis situation does not exist.”

Politico broke the news Tuesday morning that Devos is scheduling meetings with groups that advocate for sexual assault victims like Know Your IX, End Rape On Campus, SurvJustice and the National Women’s Law Center. The Education Secretary is also consulting groups that defend accused assaulters, including SAVE: Stop Abusive and Violent Environments, Families Advocating for Campus Equality, and the National Coalition for Men.

Harry Crouch, National Coalition for Men’s president, has shared some interesting thoughts on the subject. In a 2014 article, Crouch wrote:

Please remember, before starting with the “how about the victim” rebuttal that here, the “victim” is the falsely accused, not the person making the allegation. He/she false accuser is the perpetrator, should be severely disciplined and if applicable, held accountable for crimes.

Later in the letter, Crouch detailed his thoughts on the patriarchy:

Speaking of patriarchy, please go outside, look around, and ask yourself what you see that was not built by men. One of the horrific consequences of patriarchy is that you have a roof over your head, clothes to wear, food on the table, and a university you can attend where you learn that men are the cause of all the world’s problems.

Can’t wait to hear his valuable input.
