The New York Times Wants to Remind You How Evil Republicans Are

He’s no longer The Messenger, but Obama’s political accomplishments are nothing to sneeze at. Yet his political assassination has already begun.

The New York Times is urging you to vote today in the crucially important midterm elections.

To quote our paper of record, if Republicans were to assume a majority in the House or Senate, “it would be a disaster.”

The Times mentions Obama’s accomplishments, which have been forgotten by a public struggling with high unemployment and a stalled economy. The administration bandied about a “Recovery Summer” that never materialized, which hurt the president’s public appeal. He also wasn’t that cool on “The Daily Show.”

The paper lists off the black magic Republicans will release on America as “things to bear in mind.” The GOP aims to reverse healthcare reform, cut taxes for the “top slice,” enact sweeping deregulation, and halt all efforts for energy reform.

This all adds up to one thing you ought to bear in mind: the one-term Obama presidency, which Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who bears a shocking resemblance to a sea creature, openly states is the GOP’s primary goal.

How will they reach this goal? If Republicans make the gains polls suggest, expect an insanely sclerotic government over the next two years which will all but ensure high unemployment. Americans care about the environment, human rights, freedom of religion and healthcare — when they’re not worrying about what’s in their wallets.

The GOP’s strategy is a classic example of the Shakespearian villain creating a problem only he can seemingly fix. Don’t buy it.

Poor poor Stephen. Get ready for two years (at least) of that Republican black magic, my man. What you and all of your unemployed progressive pals yearning for a plump government teat to suckle from fail to realize time and time again is that this is a center-right country. If you want to live in your liberal dreamworld, perhaps you should consider France, Spain, Greece, or any of the other European countries that are now collapsing financially because you simply cannot sustain an entire population off the backs of the few. It is called math, Stephen, but I am sure they don't teach complex concepts like addition and subtraction in your urban liberal arts curriculum.

You claim that Obama's accomplishments have been “forgotten” due to high unemployment and a stuggling economy. Ummmm, so in other words, his “accomplishments” have been forgotten due to his two seismic failures? Got it.

Also, if I understand your “logic” correctly, Republican gains will “ensure high unemployment.” Sort of like the unemployment figure that has hovered near 10% for the two years that Democrats have had control of the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives? The unemployment figure that wasn't going to exceed 8% as long as the trillion dollar debacle of a stimulus package (and all of its pork) was rammed through Congress? Your banality is exceeded only by your cluelessness.

Americans who have actually gone out into the world and earned something for themselves are the ones who care “about what is in their wallets.” The hip young progressives who have yet to earn anything, create anything, or build anything are the ones who want the government to coerce those people to open up their wallets and fork it over to leeches like yourself. Maybe someday you will understand that, that is if you can ever find gainful employment with your risible Communications, Art History, or Poly-Sci degree. I hope the four years of partying in college were worth a lifetime of mediocrity and jealousy.

Finally, kudos for having the intellectual capacity to accept your news spoonfed to you from a single source – that bastion of slipshod reporting and outright plagiarism otherwise known as the New York Times. I know it is asking way too much of you to consider reading some other sources of news once in awhile, since that might actually cause you to have to form a cogent thought of your own.
