The Quebec rockers deliver “Semi-Precious Stone” and “Agents of Love” from the “Expo 86″ sessions.
Before the release of this year’s excellent “Expo 86,” Wolf Parade co-frontman Dan Boeckner revealed that the band had recorded enough material for a double album. These two new tracks are leftover cuts from those “Expo 86″ sessions, but don’t let that fool you, they’re on par and at times better than some on the album.
Side A, “Semi-Precious Stone,” is a synth-driven, Spencer Krug number. Krug had previously stated that his main criterion for the songs on “Expo 86″ was “whether or not [he] would dance to them.” Well, let’s just say this slow-building track definitely holds up to those standards.
Side B, “Agents of Love,” is a Boeckner-lead, guitar-heavy rocker. Unlike it’s partner track, “Agents of Love” is brash and fast, with Boeckner unapologetically geting straight to the point in the way a good rock song should.
“Semi-Precious Stone” and “Agents of Love” are available now on iTunes for only .99 cents. Wolf Parade is currently on a North American tour—check out the dates below.
