Oy Vey.
President Obama can’t squeeze through a day without receiving a proverbial spanking from Fox News. The website Fox Nation ran a short announcement this morning under the headline:
“Obama Praises Indian Chief Who Killed U.S. General”
It turns out Obama’s newest anti-American crime is found in the pages of his children’s book, “Of Thee I Sing: A letter to my Daughters,” which is hitting shelves today.
What murderous Indian Chief are they referring to? The Sioux medicine man and famous badass, Sitting Bull, whose army killed General Custer at “The Battle of Little Bighorn,” also known as “Custer’s Last Stand.”
Custer, famous for his Civil War efforts with the Union Army and his aggressive mustache, spent the years following the Civil War battling the few remaining American Indians, a fight which ended violently in 1876.
Both men are controversial figures from American history, like most of our war heroes. Fox Nation’s headline is ridiculous because it implies that Sitting Bull is not American, and also because it only vaguely references the content of the story under it, which is a simple release announcement for Obama’s book.
The Washington Post published the list of Obama’s “groundbreaking Americans” in order:
Georgia O’Keeffe (“helped us see big beauty in what is small”)
Albert Einstein (“changing the world with energy and light”)
Jackie Robinson (“showed us all how to turn fear to respect”)
Sitting Bull (“a Sioux medicine man”)
Billie Holiday (“sang beautiful blues”)
Helen Keller (“taught us to look and listen to each other”)
Maya Lin (“public spaces should be filled with art, she thought”)
Jane Adams (“fed the poor”)
Martin Luther King, Jr. (“taught us unyielding compassion”)
Neil Armstrong (“first to walk on the moon”)
Cesar Chavez (“showed farmworkers their own power”)
Abraham Lincoln (“promised freedom to enslaved sisters and brothers”)
George Washington (“our first president”)
Of all the terrible accusations thrown at Obama, nobody has yet accused him of being stupid. This list of American historical figures was clearly thought through, and just like a good beer commercial, “Of Thee I Sing” covers a smorgasbord of demographics, which had to include a famous American Indian.

I think that people are taking this way out of proportion, I don't agree with what Custer did. But I also do not think he was the only bad guy. The reason the Military was sent after Native Americans was because they were attacking and slaughtering the settlers that tried to move out west. And I don't agree with a whole lot of what Obama says and does, I think it is great that all the earnings of this book are to go towards the children of our fallen Military men and woman who have made the greatest sacrifice for their country to preserve our freedoms and the way of life that we have. But I don't think that Obama should praise anyone for killing Americans, and I don't agree with the people that are saying that Sitting Bull was an American, or that any native was an American, they don't want to be known as Americans, they want to be known for what they really are because they are a damn proud people, and are damn proud of who they are and what they came from. And I think that everyone here is throwing everything out of proportion and skewing it to something it's not. Before you criticize me know that I am a full blooded American, born and raised, and I am Damn proud to be. I wouldn't want to be anything else, and if you read this carefully you would know that I did NOT say anything bad about anyone in this entire thing till now, I don't agree with Obama, and what he does, I think he is an inexperienced Politician who is in way over his head, who is totally Anti American and Anti everything this Nation was founded on, I also think that he is doing this as a Publicity stunt, much like Oprah. I will add though that he is donating to a great cause yet I stand on the fact he shouldn't be releasing any book. I read also that it was written between elections in 2008 to January of 2009. If that is the case he should have waited until after his presidency is over.
