A teaser poster was recently released for the film adaptation of the pseudo-superhero comic Kick-Ass , set for theaters in Spring 2010. The poster features none other than Nicholas “The Wicker Man” Cage looking like his usual weirdo, badass self dressed in a black leather suit, complete with cape, and yellow utility belt — a blatant Batman rip-off with slight differences (I guess the ears are filed down, kind of). After checking out some of the angry nerd banter seeping into message boards and forums across the net, it seems Cage’s superhero debut (let’s forget about Ghost Rider for all our sake okay?) was not as well-received by actual fans of the ongoing, monthly comic book. In fact Cage’s character, fighting crime under the identity of “Big Daddy”, looks nothing like the comic book rendition.
Here, take a look for yourself.
Not sure about you guys but I would gladly pay money to see Nick Cage kick someone’s ass in that. According to recent news reports he could use the cash too.
So, notice the similarities between these two? I don’t.
Thus far it looks like the film adaptation of Kick-Ass has the potential to reach the same acclaim as other Cage features of recent memory; not excluding Knowing, The Wicker Man (“The bees! The bees! They’re in my eyes!”, Bangkok Dangerous, Next and every other attempted action film with loosely knit plots he’s starred in.
Remember when he won an oscar? What the hell happened?
