Death and Taxes Premieres Eulogies ‘Better Than Nothing’ and ‘You Hide’

This sneak peek at the new record from Eulogies finds the band delivering warm Los Angeles fuzz perfect for brightening up your January.

“The fact that my band is called ‘Eulogies’ has nothing to do with death,” says singer Peter Walker, “other than I think it would be a living hell if I couldn’t speak the truth.”

“Tear The Fences Down,” out on Dangerbird records January 18th, is dedicated to the son of Dangerbird co-founder Jeff Castelaz, who passed away in 2009 from a rare form of cancer.

Despite its somber roots, the first two tracks we hear from the record are anything but despondent. “Better Than Nothing,” premiering here in a Death and Taxes exclusive live version recorded at Dangerbird Studios, drives with resolve into a huge, expansive chorus. And “You Hide” sounds life-affirming—almost ebullient.

“All I’ve been through, all I’ve built, and all I’ve lost,” continues Walker, “—it’s all right here on this record.”

“Tear The Fences Down,” a follow-up to 2009′s “Here Anonymous,” will be out January 18, boasting album art from Shepard Fairey. Visit Dangerbird for more info and tour dates.
