1999′s “Operation: Doomsday” sparked MF DOOM‘s rise to underground hip-hop fame. After years of being more or less out of print and heavily bootlegged, the indie rap classic will be getting its first official reissue this year via Metalface Face Records. The deluxe, remastered version will feature alternate takes, B-sides, a 32-page lyric sheet, and even an MF DOOM metal lunch box. (Stones Throw)
In celebration of the return of this hip-hop gem, we give you another, perhaps more famous, rapper’s tribute to the man. In the clip below, watch Mos Def recite about 100 of his favorite intricately-crafted and hilarious DOOM rhymes, and just about proclaim DOOM king of all rappers.
