One of the highlights from ‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will’ gets the video treatment.
The music video, directed by Tom Scholefield, seems to have been influenced by John Hughes teenage sci-fi comedy “Weird Science.”
Two friends in an apartment act as though they’re high, eat some pizza, drink lemonade (spiked with liquor or hallucinogens?), pop in a copy of a “Weird Science” VHS tape, build a cardboard module of sorts, then use two Star Wars action figures and attempt to animate them by force of the mind, before neon blue and green lights blaze and they pass out.
It appears as though their efforts in animation of in-animate objects have succeeded, as they bring to life to feminine forms in t-shirts and panties of computer-generated imagery: one with a Darth Vader helmet on, the other with a Storm Trooper.
Scholefield was attempting an “homage to boyhood fantasies.”
I’m not sure that I ever wanted to fuck Darth Vader or a Storm Trooper, but I think I follow.
