No Age ‘Fever Dreaming’ Video is Incredible

No Age’s new video for “Fever Dreaming” is pretty punk rock, even though it’s visually spectacular.

Seems like every time I read a book that talks about either the universe of philosophy in any way it  quotes the “2nd law of thermodynamics,” which states that over time everything tends toward entropy, or chaos. The universe naturally spins apart into chaos for the same reason it takes more effort to clean your room than let it devolve into a sloppy mess.

Which is about as apt a description of No Age‘s music as any, for my money. But their new video for “Fever Dreaming” brings the spirit of entropy to life in especially vivid fashion. Director Patrick Daughters crafts the whole thing out of one long, chaotic shot. Perhaps as jarring as the eventual destruction is the contrast of how staid it starts, with Randy Randall and Dean Spunt sitting on couches in a simple living room set. The setup almost looks more like a Weezer video, but two minutes in the thermodynamics are chewing up the couch and spitting it in confetti all over the room.

“Fever Dreaming” was released on last year’s “Everything In Between.”
