Toro Y Moi‘s last streaming single and video for “Still Sound,” from the forthcoming record “Underneath the Pine,” proved that Toro Y Moi has hung up the chillwave banner. What we’ve heard of “Underneath The Pine” so far sounds electronic, 70s infused, and—dare I say—funky.
Today the 70s meme is stayin’ alive as Toro Y Moi drops “New Beat,” a fuzzy disco tune with analog-sounding synths and a 4-on-the-floor driving beat that will have you feathering your hair and pointing at the ceiling circa early ’80s Travolta.
