The Apples In Stereo Announce New Album

By Matt Kiebus Tuesday, January 26, 2010

imagesThe Apples In Stereo have announced the release of their seventh studio, Travelers in Space and Time, for April 20th. This will be the second release under Elijah Wood’s Simian Records. Their new album sets out to include more hooks and is being described as “retro-futuristic super-pop.” Travelers is aimed at being a dance record for the future, with a nod to ELO, Barry Gibb, Wild Honey-era Beach Boys, and Off the Wall-era Michael Jackson.

“I wanted to make a futuristic pop record, to reach out to the kids of the furture,” says frontman Robert Schneider. “It is what I imagine their more highly-evolved pop might sound like: shiny soul music with robots and humans singing together, yet informed by the music of our time. So we are sending a pop music message through time, hoping they will decode it and be into it.”

Travellers is sixteen tracks of of piano-driven sounds. The album juxtaposes sounds of the 70s radio sound with the band’s idea of the future. Expect electronic dance groves with great hooks, geared towards future where maybe robots and humans sing together?
