broken-bells-the-high-roadComprised of artist/producer Danger Mouse and James Mercer, lead vocalist of the Shins, Broken Bells describe themselves as "melodic, but experimental too." Their first single begins with what sounds like a remix of all my favorite childhood video games and I'm loving it. Quickly building to the chorus, the song is catchy and sad and and pretty all at the same time. The recently released music video depicts with the duo wandering an empty road at night and can be seen here.

Broken Bells Debut Music Video on MySpace

broken-bells-the-high-roadComprised of artist/producer Danger Mouse and James Mercer, lead vocalist of the Shins, Broken Bells describe themselves as “melodic, but experimental too.” Their first single begins with what sounds like a remix of all my favorite childhood video games and I’m loving it. Quickly building to the chorus, the song is catchy and sad and and pretty all at the same time. The recently released music video depicts with the duo wandering an empty road at night and can be seen here.

The pair only began recording together in March of 2008, ultimately deciding to join forces as Broken Bells in September, 2009. Their self-titled debut album is set to hit stores March 9, 2010, although the full record has leaked all over torrent sites. Danger Mouse is no stranger to such controversy, however, as his latest album with Sparklehorse, Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse Present: Dark Night of the Soul, may never be (officially) released due to a legal spat with their record label, EMI. Regardless, fans can purchase a 100 page booklet of photos by Director David Lynch that was supposed to accompany the album. Packaged with the book is a blank CD clearly labeled “For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will.”

If it tickles you, check out Broken Bell’s website to pre-order a fancy-shmancy deluxe edition of their debut album.
