Muammar Gaddafi is Totally 1.1

1.1 is a term used by the Church of Scientology to identify individuals as “covertly hostile.” These individuals partake in hedonism, homosexuality and other dirty, sexy stuff. In an effort to make fun of Scientology, while also getting to use its awesomest terms, we have created a new column called “Totally 1.1″ to report on the nefarious behavior of celebrities and world leaders. Muammar Gaddafi, for instance, is totally 1.1.

Libya’s beleaguered leader Muammar Gaddafi has responded to recent political unrest among his people with violence, threats of annihilation, and bribery, essentially making Hosni Mubarak look like a big Egyptian teddy bear. This kind of behavior from a world leader is decidedly 1.1. Here are a few of Gaddafi’s lower digit insults, which he unleashed upon Libyans in recent weeks:

Blaming Al Qaeda and hallucinogens for Libyan revolts:

Gaddafi (or however you spell it) took to the airwaves yesterday, calling upon State TV to blame al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden for stirring up protests, while stating that the crowds of enraged Libyan protesters are under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs, put “in their coffee with milk, like Nescafe,” and therefore dangerous. Hey, what’s scarier than a crowd of tripping African hippies? These statements are koo koo for cocoa puffs and appear to be thinly veiled attempts at winning sympathy from the West, which both hates bin Laden and had to manage tripping protesters themselves in the 1960s.

Hiding up to $32 billion in foreign accounts:

According to reports including a WikiLeaks cable which helped incite the protests, Gaddafi siphoned funds from various billion-dollar oil contracts and stuck them in international investments, including several U.S. banks. The result is a $32 billion fortune for the Gaddafi clan while a reported one third of his country appears to live below the poverty line. This level of extortion is inarguably totally 1.1.

Using violence against protesters:

French officials are currently estimating that up to 2,000 have died so far in Libya’s uprising. While the exact number is hard to know, one thing is certain: Gaddafi is unleashing armed battalions on his people. In a speech to crowds of supporters in Tripoli today, he urged supporters “retaliate against them, retaliate against them” and “prepare to defend the nation and defend the oil.” It appears Gaddafi has delivered on his son’s threat of civil war which he issued last weekend against protesters.

L. Ron Hubbard reportedly suggested ridding the world of 1.1′s by raising them on the tone scale or “disposing of them quietly and without sorrow.” The Libyan people are trying really hard to dispose of Gaddafi, as the U.S. and European Union decide on sanctions against his government. All efforts have so far been ineffective.

Is he really “totally 1.1″ if there’s nothing covert about his hostility? I’m thinking Tiger Woods, Jesse James, and John Edwards were most certainly “totally 1.1,” but Gaddafi is probably somewhere south of 1.1 on the Tone Scale. :-)

Excellent point, JenJen. We were focusing on 1.1 as “the most wicked type of person.” But we’ll be sure to hit up some more covertly hostile celebs in future installments of “Totally 1.1″ :)

with Gadaffi’ pal Louis Farrakhan and the entire Nation of Islam Now studying Dianetics and Scientology and Louie set to announce his Scientology secret to the world on the 27th of February during his saviors day speech.

Farrakhan can now help his pal Muammar raise his level on the Tone scale
because Louie is a Scientologist now.

This guy’s not 1.1. on the tone scale (covert hostility). He’s clearly 1.5 – ‘anger’. Learn your Scientology basics! :-P

Here’s a brief summary of the various tones (higher number = better, less destructive and more trustworthy)

4.0 Enthusiasm (‘yay, I got an iPad for my birthday! I’m so happy!!!’)
3.0 Convervatism (‘say, Charles, may I have another cup of Earl Gray? Thank you dear…’)
2.5 Boredem (‘Ah! It’s such a nice day, is it not?!’, ‘Meh…’)
2.0 Antagonism (‘You’re a good-for-nothing, just like your father. Now go tody up your room!!!!’)
    1.5 Anger (See Gaddafi)
1.1. Covert Hostility (think Iago from Shakespeare’s Othello)
    1.0 Fear
    0.05 Apathy
