The band sports tuxedos in an opera house in this new clip for the “Angles” lead single.
Yesterday we had “You’re So Right,” a track that made many wonder whether this new Strokes album was really going to be a return to form.
Well, today “Under Cover of Darkness“—the track that initially sparked those “they sound like they did back in 2001″ rumors—has received the video treatment courtesy of director Warren Fu.
In the clip, a leather-jacketed Julian Casablancas wails and tears shit up while the rest of the band play in a separate room, quietly, in tuxedos. Visual metaphor for those band tensions, perhaps? In the end, the entire group end up in penguin suits being “‘conducted” to play their music at an upscale opera house. Deep.
Check out the clip below. “Angles” is due out March 22 via RCA.
