Auto-tune the Libyan revolution.
Last week Noy Alooshe, a blogger and “music journalist” from Tel Aviv made a Gregory Brothers-style rendition of Muammar Gaddafi delivering his invective as an aggressive techno-dance beat track. It’s become a huge hit in the Middle East, receiving more than 2.5 million views in the little over a week since it was uploaded to YouTube.
Gaddafi gesticulates militantly as dancing girls hover in the corners of the screen. Alooshe’s “Zenga Zenga” has a decidedly different effect than seeing Obama, Jon Stewart, or Cristine O’Donnell redacted in the Gregory Brothers’ Auto-Tune the News segments. This is a guy who actually kills his own people, so it’s bound to be creepier than anything we could produce stateside, but with the stakes so high the act of defiance to the dictator is chilling.
So when are we going to see Scott Walker auto-tuned?
