All in the service of Coca-Cola Foundation’s Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN).
The music video is not nearly as curious as Kings of Leon’s “Radioactive” video (the BBQ and frolicking with black children), but one must pause for a moment over Coca-Cola’s involvement in a clean water initiative in Africa. In producing Coke, the cola giant probably uses up a great deal of water (though sugar or corn syrup is it’s major ingredient) that could have been better used in Africa.
As a song, “Kenya” is quite good, especially the second half when the beat drops, which calls to mind Aphex Twin’s more playful moments.
And whatever we think of Coca-Cola’s motives (or of the music video itself), at least give credit to Chris Taylor, Twin Shadow and Solange for trying to do something positive in the world.
