The three electronic artists team up on two tracks “Ego” and “Mirror.”
The songs are ripped off of a Rinse FM appearance made by Four Tet on Floating Points, then posted on YouTube.
The atmosphere on “Ego” bears the traces of Burial with some of the collaged instrumentation of Four Tet. The beat is signature Burial as well, a throbbing and warped dub-step beat. Yorke’s voice, more subdued than usual, rides the beat and atmospherics.
The single is to be released as a 12″ on Four Tet’s label Text with B side “Mirror,” which sounds much more like a Burial and Radiohead collaboration than “Ego.” Both tracks are amazing (which isn’t always the case with collaboration), but “Mirror” might be the superior song: easily one of my favorite tracks of the year so far. In my opinion, Burial is the predominant influence on both tracks, which is fantastic.
A full album sounds like it’s in order, even though it’s unlikely. Listen to both tracks below.
