EMI Auctions Rock Memorabilia For Japanese Earthquake Victims

What do Bat For Lashes, Daft Punk, Lady Antebellum, Jane Birkin, The Beatles, Arcade Fire, hang on I’m not done yet, Deadmau5, 30 Seconds To Mars, Keith Urban, Duffy, gasping for breath here, ok, that’s about it… what do they all have in common? They’re all donating items to EMI’s ‘Family 4 Japan’ relief auction.

Some of the items are pretty pedestrian, like, say, a signed poster from Katy Perry, or a dress worn by Lady Antebellum (yawn). Others are just ever-so-slightly too of-the-moment, like, say, Chris Martin of Coldplay’s weird 2008 Barack Obama / Civil War jacket. But others, such as Daft Punk’s Ferrari from their 2007 art film Electroma, or Jane Birkin’s very own (and thusly, first ever) Birkin bag, are much cooler. Needless to say, everything goes to a good cause: EMI will donate all of the proceeds to the British Red Cross, who (one can imagine) will use that towards aid for the victims of the megadisaster in Japan.

Personally, I have my eye on the fox-adorned leotard of Bat For Lashes frontwoman Natasha Khan. Don’t ask why. Maybe I just want to frame it and hang it in my breakfast nook to ponder under while I eat my Froot Loops. Maybe that’s why. Some might say that’s weird. Some might say I have personal issues. Although, not as many personal issues as the person who spends good money on a Rodney Carrington autographed Nut Sack promotional Nut Sack. That person has more money than shame, and that, friends, is a dangerous person indeed.
