The Strokes Covered By Aptly-Named Hipster Orchestra

The music-licensing and string-instrument-playing hipsters Jingle Punks arrange “Under Cover of Darkness” from the Strokes’ new album “Angles.”

The official video for The Strokes’ “Under Cover of Darkness” has a theatrical, fancy-pants vibe to it, so maybe the song really was begging to be covered by an ensemble. The Hipster Orchestra from the music licensing site Jingle Punks arranged the track, which is from the band’s recently-released album “Angles,” for a string eight-piece.

The video pretty much just shows the small orchestra playing in front of a wall painted with band logos, but the string version of the song is an interesting listen. Like the track being covered, it’s totally a throwback to The Strokes of 2001, or at least to what they would have sounded like if they were covered by hipsters playing strings.
