Some people just don’t want to grow up… and why would you if you could be a baby?
Who could refuse a world of nap naps, warm milk, cinnamon apple sauce, burps, getting burped, spit ups, or shitting yourself and having the luxury of somebody else cleaning it up for you? To most adults it seems like a world lost in time, a place that they could never return to. To others it’s their everyday lives.
Adult babies are very real and they live and nap among us, nuzzled securely in their cribs sucking their thumbs while surrounded by stuffed animals and mobiles. In a recent episode, National Geographic’s “Taboo” explores the phenomenon that’s taking the adult world by storm.
In the video above (from said episode) 29 year-old Stanley is a regular adult who lives a normal life when out of the house but when home he finds solace in sucking his binky and being read stories by his live in nurse/role playing mother.
Sadly the world is not ready to accept people like Stanley. Every time he leaves the house he must switch in and out of what he calls “adult mode,” completely dismissing any possibility of getting pushed around in a stroller, or even playing in the sand box.
The episode is quite an interesting one shedding light on this underground occurrence. Hopefully we will soon live in a world that accepts these adult children for who they are.
