Must Watch: Owlle Performing ‘Don’t Lose It’ Live [Video]

Owlle is a French musician who has drawn comparisons to Bat for Lashes and Lykke Li.  Watch this incredible video of her live performance of ‘Don’t Lose It.’

The comparisons to Lykke Li and Bat for Lashes are rather fitting when it comes to Owlle‘s music.  She has very distinct vocals that float atop dark, moody and sometimes playful melodies built of synths and distinct percussion. In her song “Disorder,” she almost sounds like a vocal chimera of Annie Lennox and Elizabeth Frazer of the Cocteau Twins.

On May 2nd, the French artist released a video of a live performance of “Don’t Lose It,” which begins with a camera floating atop a pair of hands playing an omnichord of some sort.  We then see Owlle’s face as she begins singing.  Surrounding her are little candles arranged just in front of her.  Yes, it sounds like “The Craft” or some teenage witch fantasy, but it isn’t.

To her right is a drummer using the pavement and floor tom laid on its side to create what amounts to beautiful percussion.  The camera floats between them in a very satisfying way.  In fact, it was a rather ingenious way of capturing a live performance.

Check it out.
