Nearly five years later, the FBI is still investigating the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, who went missing while vacationing with classmates in Aruba. Holloway was last seen with Joran van der Sloot, the son of a Dutch diplomat who was arrested and questioned numerous times in connection with the disappearance, but has yet to be charged.
ABC, who does a lovely job spelling Natalee’s name wrong, broke news today that a couple vacationing in Aruba last November may have unknowingly helped solve the case. This January the couple met up with friends to compare vacation photos and noticed what appear to be human remains on the ocean floor.
“We start passing the pictures around and Ivette looked at this one and said ‘my God that looks like a corpse,’” John Muldowney said of his wife.
The couple relinquished photos to the FBI, who has since assigned an agent to the case to investigate and locate possible remains.
