Your Favorite Band Probably Performed A Punk Tribute For “Our Band Could Be Your Life”

Ted Leo, tUnE-yArDs, Dan Deacon and many others paid tribute to ’80s punk icons featured in Michael Azerrad’s book “Our Band Could Be Your Life.”

For many, including myself, Michael Azerrad’s “Our Band Could Be Your Life” is as close to a rock and roll bible as any book has ever come.

Azerrad’s work — a collection of stories about ’80s punk icons Black Flag, Minor Threat, Sonic Youth, Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr, Fugazi, Replacements, Butthole Surfers, Big Black and others — decidedly shaped many a teenage kid’s music taste for the rest of his life.

Last weekend at The Bowery Ballroom in NYC, several well known indie acts, who were probably just as affected by “Our Band Could Be Your Life,” paid tribute to those bands featured in the book. Now, NPR has a stream of every set from that night.

Listen to “Our Concert Could Be Your Life” sets below.
