It is with great pleasure that I announce the Walkmen's continued departure from their days of staged performances on behalf of one Seth Cohen. Their 2008 release, You & Me, managed to pick up where 2006's A Hundred Miles Off did not leave off, harking back, rather, to the 2004 masterpiece Bows + Arrows. There is not a single song on that album worth skipping over, and you didn't need Pitchfork to name "The Rat" number 20 on its top 500 songs of the aughts to know what you were hearing was special. After spending a year recording and writing the material for their upcoming release, which this time around features a full horn section, the band announced at its performance at SXSW that the new record was nearing completion -- a fact they then supported by playing a number of unreleased tracks, as well as some old favorites. Catch the stream of the band's entire set at Stubb's from NPR
