Nobunny: The Wascally Type
February 10th, 2010 by Braden Rosner
Nobunny loves you.
Seriously, the dude is a nutcase.
If his music is any indication he’s likely to spill the deepest, darkest, most perverse feelings in his head to you without as much as knowing your name.
Actually, come to think of it, he pretty much does just that on Love Visions — Nobunny’s 2008 full length effort. More after the jump.

December 29th, 2009 by Braden Rosner

Nicolas Cage's Teaser Released For Upcoming Kick-Ass Film — Message Boards None Too Pleased
December 17th, 2009 by Braden Rosner
A teaser poster was recently released for the film adaptation of the pseudo-superhero comic Kick-Ass, set for theaters in Spring 2010. The poster features none other than Nicholas “The Wicker Man” Cage looking like his usual weirdo, badass self dressed in a black leather suit, complete with cape, and yellow utility belt — a blatant Batman rip-off with slight differences (I guess the ears are filed down, kind of). More after the jump.

December 9th, 2009 by Braden Rosner
Just when you thought the Torontonian, living legends of post-hardcore couldn’t get any zanier they go and release a Christmas single that’s sure to ring in holiday cheer — well, as best a band with a frontman named “Pink Eyes” can anyways. More Canadian hardcore fun after the jump.

Dark Night Of The Soul In Distribution Hell, David Lynch Still Terrifying
November 23rd, 2009 by Braden Rosner
Dark Night of the Soul is an unbelievable album.
For realsies. Through the combined efforts of Danger Mouse– whose 2004 mashup opus fittingly titled The Grey Album caused EMI to furiously shake its fists over the use of unrequested Beatles’ tracks from The White Album combined with a cappella version of Jay Z’s The Black Album– and alternative folk rock aficionados, Sparklehorse. Plenty more after the jump.
Snow Patrol Release New Album: A Best Of That Isn't A Best Of
November 19th, 2009 by Braden Rosner
The Irish crooners of Snow Patrol have released a Best of album from their 15-year career modestly titled Up to Now, which hit North American shores last week. Frontman Gary Lightbody has openly stated that the album is not a Best Of, rather a collection of the band’s most loved songs. Which pretty much makes it a Best Of, right? Right.
Featuring popular tracks from the band’s discography spanning five LPs with a couple of unreleased strewn throughout, alternative music fans and diehard Ikea enthusiasts are sure to be content with the band’s latest.
Does anyone else feel like these guys missed the boat?
You can find Up to Now playing in alternative, yuppie coffee shops everywhere.

November 16th, 2009 by Braden Rosner
The garage rock misfits of King Khan and BBQ Show have sparked controversy after being detained by police in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, late last week. The boys were released shortly after, but tour manager Kristin Klein is facing charges of driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance. More after the jump.
Better to Guest Star Than Fade Away
November 13th, 2009 by Braden Rosner
I just saw Gavin Rossdale on some shitty run-of-the-mill cop drama.
Gavin Rossdale, the same frontman of Bush whose 1994 album Sixteen Stones would become a monumental purchase for the my naive 7-year-old self. The same Gavin Rossdale who’s been getting dirty with Gwen Stefani since her Tragic Kingdom days. He used to be to ’90s music what Skeet Ulrich was to mediocre ’90s films. When an entire decade was rebounding from the loss of Kurt Cobain, who answered the call? Gavin Fucking Rossdale, that’s who. Now look at him. He’s playing the frontman of some stupid vampire goth band on Criminal Minds. The band resembles some sort of brutal hybrid between Guns N’ Roses and The Misfits–like if Axel and Danzig raised a love child together. Except, you know, with strobe lights. Did I mention Rossdale’s character also thinks he’s a vampire? That’s still cool, right? Oh, good–the guy from Dharma and Greg is in this show too. Ugh, the one who played Greg–not that tall dude who played Dharma. It’s official, primetime is where our musicians of yesteryear come to die. I wonder if years down the road we’ll get to see someone like Julian Casablancas guest starring on CSI: New Haven? Now that’s a career suicide I’d watch.
