Interview: The Silent League

March 29th, 2010 by Isaac Lekach

the-silent-league“One need not listen to Silent League music for very long to come to the conclusion that we are huge fans of Electric Light Orchestra,” explains the band’s singer Justin Russo of their brand of pop. It’s true. The galactic love story detailed in “Yours Truly, 2095” off their third album …But You’ve Always Been The Caretaker is a dead giveaway. And the delicate timbre of Russo’s vocals also brings Mercury Rev, of which Russo was once a member, to mind. But Russo and his cohorts (which include producer and Stars Like Fleas founder Shannon Fields) channel their influences gracefully here and create something distinct and wonderful on its own. Visit the jump for our online-exclusive interview with Russo and Fields.

Twitter Feed Gets CBS Show

February 22nd, 2010 by Isaac Lekach

300.shatner.william.lc.021910Twitterer @shitmydadsays has apparently inked a deal with CBS to bring his father’s quips to the boob tube. Not only that–but William Shatner will allegedly star in it. If you haven’t been following the tweets, you should still be able to deduce what you’re in for based on the handle alone. Not that we have the power to make your dreams come true, or anything–but what other Twitterer would you like to see get a TV show or ink a book deal? My vote: @FATJEW
