Sarah Palin’s documentary “The Undefeated” may have set one world record this weekend that can never be broken.

Like almost everyone, I did not see Sarah Palin’s “The Undefeated” this weekend.

The film opened to a whopping $65,000 opening weekend—or $5,000 per screen. By contrast, Werner Herzog’s “The Cave of Forgotten Dreams” earned $27,000 per screen on opening weekend.

One might question the Palin/Breitbart camp’s decision to unroll their propaganda flick on the same weekend as the conclusion of the “Harry Potter” franchise—possibly the biggest movie sensation in a decade.

At the same time, however, we’ll never know how much of that $5,000 per screen consisted of disappointed “Potter” fans who couldn’t get into sold-out shows and decided while they were already at the theater to see “The Undefeated” just for laughs.

At any rate, the film does seem to have broken at least one record this weekend: With 10 movie critics and 607 users reporting, “The Undefeated” is clocking a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

While I haven’t completed an exhaustive study to conclude that “The Undefeated” is the first movie to ever hit 0% in the history of Rotten Tomatoes, it seems a worthwhile barometer to compare “The Undefeated’s” score to some of the worst Nicholas Cage movies, since these have to be among the most atrocious movies ever made. “Wicker Man” received a 15%, while “Season of the Witch” received an 8% rating.

Both admirable showings, to be sure. But zero is an absolute number. If the 0% score for “The Undefeated” sticks, it’ll be a record held in perpetuity. It can be tied, but never broken.

In this sense, Sarah Palin’s movie truly will be “undefeated.”
