‘Between Two Ferns’ comes to Comedy Central
Zach Galifianakis has got to be one of the best additions to the storied tradition of the sad American funnyman since Bill Murray. As gratifying as it was to see him become an A-list movie star, it was a little worrisome to think that development meant abandoning the oddball bits of original comedy that made him an instant icon in favor of more “Hangover” sequels.
Which makes it super-gratifying that his “Between Two Ferns” segment for Funny or Die is being adapted into a half-hour show for Comedy Central. Even better, it airs in two weeks on May 6.
EW reports this morning that “Scott Aukerman confirmed on today’s Comedy Bang Bang podcast that he directed a 30-minute episode” of “Between Two Ferns” with Tina Fey, Jon Stewart, and Richard Branson as guests. It’s not clear whether the May 6 show will be eventually lead to a whole series, but one can hope.
To celebrate, below is one of our all-time favorite “Between Two Ferns” episodes: Natalie Portman.
