Janelle Monae debuts two new songs live

Janelle Monae is currently in between album cycles, and as Pretty Much Amazing points out, for Monae that cycle is longer than most because she’s reportedly working on not one but two new records. At any rate, she played the Toronto Jazz Festival recently, still rocking her signature coiffe and bow tie, and debuted two new tracks, “Electric Lady” and “Dorothy Dandridge Eyes.” Both are mid-tempo relative to the spectrum of sounds on Monae’s 2010 debut “The ArchAndroid”—neither are exactly a banging hook like “Tightrope,” but they both sound promising.
