Ed Helms will play a grown-up Rusty Griswold in ‘Vacation’ sequel

The film buff site Collider released a snippet of an interview with “Horrible Bosses” screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who gave production and casting details for the fifth installment of National Lampoon’s famed “Vacation” franchise. Se set to write and direct for New Line (their feature film debut as directors), Goldstein and Daley are centering the next film around a new generation of Griswolds and are handing the family trucker steering wheel over to an adult-size Rusty, played by “The Hangover’s” Ed Helms.

Ed Helms as Rusty Griswold? I could see that.

“We’re shooting in June in Atlanta and in New Mexico,” said Daley, a.k.a. Sam Weir from “Freaks and Geeks”, adding that he and his writing partner plan to bring back members of the original cast — i.e. Grandpa Clark, Aunt Audrey, et al. Goldstein: “We’re in the process of having those conversations.”

The IMDb page for the 2014-slated “Vacation” list no other details about the project. So more to come.
