MS MR reveal artwork for Secondhand Rapture, announce headlining tour

Star formation is a process where dense regions within molecular clouds in space collapse into spheres of plasma to form stars, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic that I was able to witness that exact affair at The Jr (Formerly Emo’s) on 6th St during MS MR’s set. Lizzy Plapinger and producer Max Hershenow aren’t on the short list of worth-your-while guy/girl duos based out of Brooklyn; they are the short list. Anyone dreaming of starting their own project of a similar format should take notes, if that would even help. Chemistry like the kind that sparks between Lizzy and Max when they lay atmospheric, soulful pop songs over world-music influenced beats isn’t something you can simply study and mimic, and sex like the kind these two exude, even in casual conversation, is innate -not to be learned, faked, or borrowed.

I was privy to the work of this magnetic pair a few months prior to SXSW, occasionally spinning their “Candy Bar Creep Show” EP, and even showing it to friends around the office once in awhile. But seeing them live secured their place on my radar, and when I heard they released their artwork and announced a new tour today, I had to share. For those who’ve not heard, please do yourself a favor and check out their video for “Fantasy” below.

If you’re local, the Music Hall of Williamsburg shows are unfortunately sold out, but you can still grab tickets for their Bowery Ballroom performance on 5/15.
