Chris Brown just now learning that beating women is wrong

In what is probably an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank, noted pummeler of lady-faces Chris Brown went on the Today Show this morning to talk to Matt Lauer about his new song, and also his relationship with Rihanna and the whole beating her to a bloody pulp thing. In case you’ve been concerned about his well being, he would like you to know that he has graciously forgiven himself for the incident. He even learned in his 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling that beating women is not a great idea.

From Entertainment Weekly:

“I’ve been humbled by the whole experience, from me losing everything to me having to regain public opinion, or whatever it is. But most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong, and having to kind of deal with myself and forgive myself in the same breath, and being able to apologize to Rihanna, and being able to be that man that can be a man, you know?”

And he’s only 23 years old!  He must be some kind of child prodigy or something, amirite? It only took him 23 years on this planet to learn that domestic violence is not something we do in polite society.

Call me crazy, but I think it’s starting to be more than apparent, sadly, that there is a need some for kind of “Hey, Don’t Beat or Rape Anyone!” seminars for young men in schools. I mean, you’d think it’s a given, but it seems a lot of these young men are not so very clear on the fact that they’re not supposed to be going around assaulting women.
