Kai the hatchet-wielding hitchhiker is wanted for murder
You all remember the February Internet sensation who, barely more than 100 days ago, expressed his propensity for violence by saving a California gas worker from a homicidal maniac, yes? Well, now Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, a.k.a. Kai, is on the lam from New Jersey authorities as a suspect in a murder case.
From ABC News:
Authorities in Union County have issued an arrest warrant for internet celebrity “Kai the hatchet wielding hitchhiker” in the murder of Joseph Galfy, Jr. in Clark, New Jersey.
McGillvary is homeless but considers himself “homefree” and relies on the generosity of strangers for food, lodging and transportation. The victim, Joseph Galfy, was found inside his home on Starlite Drive on May 13, 2013 after officers received a call to check on his well-being. An autopsy performed the following day determined that Galfy died as a result of blunt force trauma.
Smash smash smash? Oh my god. The news report also stated that detectives have discovered Kai cut his hair in an effort to mask his identity from cops, not to mention the hundreds of thousands who could easily identify him from YouTube. I would think it’s pretty much useless to hide when, in addition to his sensational news interview (link above), Kai put out a music video that has garnered more than 600,000 views.
Bad news all around here, gang. Eyewitnesses last spotted Kai at a light rail station in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Police consider him armed and dangerous and ask that anyone with information contact Union County Crime Stoppers at 908-654-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is being offered in the case.
