Preview: Christopher Lee conjures the forces of Sauron with thrash metal
Hammer horror film legend and trolling Saruman actor Sir Christopher Lee is gearing up for the May 27 release of his sophomore LP “Charlemagne: The Omens of Death,” a thrash metal follow-up to his 2010 orchestral rock album “Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross.”
A track-by-track preview of “The Omens of Death” posted to iTunes on Wednesday, and I can’t say that it’s not outstanding. We’ll have to give this one time to see if the novelty wears off before passing judgment. Until then, enjoy the 90-year-old from “LOTR” summon the Satanic forces of Middle-Earth with musical arrangements by guitarist Richie Faulkner (Judas Priest).
In typical ironic n’ roll fashion (sorry), Lee also posted a wingback chair discussion to YouTube on Wednesday in which he shares the inspiration for his calling as a metal sorcerer. Watch below if you want.
