CPAC ‘folk singer’ proves conservatives are as good at protest songs as they are at comedy

I have this theory that the majority of Tea Partiers are baby boomers who weren’t hippies in the ’60s and ’70s because they supported Vietnam and were squares or whatever, but always felt kind of jealous of the good times it seemed like the hippies were having and the attention they got. I guess I’ve been proven right now that they’ve even got their own “folk singer,” Chip Murray, playing at CPAC.

His song appears to be a weird anthem about how poor people are lazy and we shouldn’t help them.

I guess it’s a good thing that Pete Seeger is not around to witness whatever this is supposed to be. Murray was promoted by “BigDawg Music Mafia,” whose cringeworthy motto is “Where Conservative is Cool.” Because obviously the best way to achieve coolness is to go around telling people how totally cool you are, right?
