Police confirm name of Michael Brown’s shooter
On Friday, St. Louis County police announced the name of the officer who shot Michael Brown, an unarmed teenager, in Ferguson, Missouri. The name of the officer is Darren Wilson.
According Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson, Wilson has been with the force for six years, and has no history of disciplinary action. He also claimed Wilson was treated for injuries on Saturday.
Jackson held the press conference over 35 minutes later than the scheduled 8 a.m. CT start time, while standing in front of the QuikTrip gas station, which burned down over the weekend following a candlelight vigil for Brown. It’s a heavy-handed symbolic choice, to say the least.
The name of the shooter differs from the one Anonymous released on Thursday, before their Twitter account @TheAnonMessage was suspended from the service.
