The Roots: The Fire (VIDEO)

The Roots have been making some of the smartest hip-hop for the past decade, and despite a few bumps in the road, which included becoming the house band for “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” their new album “How I Got Over” continues the trend.

Now the band explores the art of the period piece with the video for “The Fire” featuring John Legend

The video, directed by Rik Cordero (Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes,) is set in the dark, dying days of WWII and follows a group of prisoners as they are lead through the countryside. There is enough overworked drama, gratuitous violence and metaphors in this one to fill a Tarantino flick.
