Texas nurse who contracted Ebola filing lawsuit against hospital
Back in October, 26-year-old Nina Pham was treating Ebola patient Eric Duncan at Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas when she contracted the disease herself on account of the apparent poor training and preparation in part of the medical institute.
Now, Pham, who was transferred to a specialty center out of state and has since overcome Ebola, is suing Texas Presbyterian because “they just haven’t risen to the occasion,” she said, to “have my back and take care of me.”
According to Mediaite, Pham said that the hospital’s ill-preparedness represents “a symbol of corporate neglect” and “a casualty of a hospital system’s failure to prepare for a known and impending medical crisis.”
The hospital offered a counter-statement to local media saying that they “remain optimistic that constructive dialogue can resolve this matter.”
Pham recovered in November from Ebola on account of a blood transfusion. Duncan, the patient from which she contracted the deadly disease, did not survive.
