Eddie Murphy performs surprise stand-up set at Comedy Store

On Thursday night, Eddie Murphy returned to stand-up for the first time in 25 years, performing a 10-minute set at the Comedy Store.

At least, that’s according to Arsenio Hall, and a cryptic tweet from the Comedy Store. Apparently Arsenio performed a set at the Store, then tweeted at Murphy to try to convince him to do the same.

Later, The Comedy Store tweeted the following:

How coy of them.

Staff at the club were given strict instructions to ban all cellphones and cameras from the audience. So unfortunately, there’s no blurry, shaky footage of his set — or any evidence it actually happened. Whether or not this rumor is true, well, we’ll just have to wait to find out.
