High school teacher takes turns banging students at her home
In the latest incident of a disturbing string of predatory teachers sexually abusing their students, on Friday, 28-year-old former math teacher Erica Lynn Mesa pleaded guilty to having sex with multiple students while teaching at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford County, Virginia. According to local media, Mesa is facing 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to “two counts of electronic solicitation of a minor and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor” and will be sentenced on May 21.
Mesa admitted to having sex with four students, ages 16 to 18 and sent nude photos of herself to a 16-year-old student. In addition to the litany of charges, she had sex with one student in the school parking lot on his 18th birthday. However, perhaps the most disturbing detail is her admission of having sex with one student in her home while another waited his turn in the basement. This occurred while her husband, social studies teacher at the same school and fellow volleyball coach, was away. As you can imagine, they are no longer together.
The nature of her serial abuse speaks to an almost pathological need for validation. According to the Huffington Post, her confession to local authorities from her arrest last fall revealed that her serial abuse of her students made her feel “attractive” and “wanted.”
“She is not a pedophile,” said her attorney, Mark Gardner. “She was not preying on people who had no interest in participating.”
Mesa has been in jail since her September 29 arrest and will be required to register as a sex offender.
