Drugs squad burns ‘mountain of weed,’ accidentally gets locals stoned
An Indonesian police force accidentally got residents of West Jakarta super ripped when they destroyed more than three tons of marijuana by burning it in a massive bonfire.
The weed had been seized in earlier raids along with some 1,800 grams of methamphetamine and more than 2,500 ecstasy tablets. While the meth and e were destroyed using a blender, police officers took the ganj to an open field, piled it into a “mountain,” and subsequently lit that shit up.
While the drug squad thought ahead enough to wear masks, they apparently made no considerations for the journalists present or locals in nearby homes, who started getting dizzy as the fumes drifted from the fire. One reporter present said he had to “sit down and have a cup of tea.”
Others reported headaches, possibly because the bricks (pictured above) don’t exactly look like finalists for the Cannabis Cup, but at least the locals didn’t have to pay for it.
If only Indonesian police had heeded the warnings of veteran BBC reporter Quentin Sommerville.
