Building collapses in New York City’s East Village
As many as 30 people are believed to be injured in an explosion that blew through an apartment building in New York City’s East Village on Thursday afternoon, reported NY Post. According to Gothamist, the FDNY confirmed that a building collapse occurred at 125 2nd Avenue at about 3:15 pm. In addition to housing apartments, the address also hosts a nail salon, and is next door to vegetarian restaurant B & H Dairy. The 7-alarm fire has also spread to a neighboring building, with several occupants currently unaccounted for.

The NY Times reported that over 100 firefighters have been dispatched to fight the blaze.

Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the collapse.
