Florida hotel wakes up hungover spring breakers by blasting ‘Circle of Life’
Maybe it’s because it’s Monday and that incessant marimba jingle I’ve for some reason chosen to wake me up every morning and subsequently ruin the rest of my day is still clattering about my skull, but this story about how one Panama City Holiday Inn is rousing hungover spring breakers staying at their hotel is giving me a migraine.
Every year since it started the tradition in 2012, the Florida resort has woken up its guests by blasting “The Circle of Life” from Disney’s “The Lion King” promptly at 11:00 a.m. In news that confirms I have zilch in common with the average spring breaker aside from my bangin’ bod and bitchin’ Hawaiian shirts, the guests all seem to love it, and “hundreds of people” call each year to make sure the song will be played during their stay.
“It’s the best thing ever. Every morning when we wake up we look forward to it it’s like an entire Panama City Beach Holiday Inn family just singing together,” Jessica Young told WJHG.
Guess it’s true–there’s no accounting for taste in wake up calls.
