Even NASCAR hates Indiana’s homophobic law

In an unexpected statement, NASCAR is joining the popular rejection of Indiana’s new anti-gay law (aka the “Religious Freedom Rights Act” if you’re into cynical euphemisms for bigotry), that allows businesses to turn away LGBT customers.

According to their statement on Tuesday,

“NASCAR is disappointed by the recent legislation passed in Indiana. We will not embrace nor participate in exclusion or intolerance. We are committed to diversity and inclusion within our sport and therefore will continue to welcome all competitors and fans at our events in the state of Indiana and anywhere else we race.”

NASCAR joins the Indianapolis Colts, Nick Offerman, Wilco, and a long list of other organizations, business, and celebrities in decrying the law.

Meanwhile, Governor Pence is digging in on his defense of the law, further relinquishing any humanity that might have been left in his shriveled, rotten soul.
