The inevitable Caitlyn Jenner porn parody is here [NSFW]

It’s been a banner few years for transgender visibility. Between Laverne Cox, Andreja Pejic, and Caitlyn Jenner (to name just three), trans women (and, to a lesser degree, trans men) are spotlighting gender issues in a way that’s making people question their concept of what is “normal.” Now to cement their arrival into the mainstream comes the first porn parody dedicated to a transgender celebrity: “Kaitlyn Gender: Based on a Not so True Story.”

That’s right. After years of toiling in fetish-y obscurity, Trans500 Studios has a big budget parody fit for the mainstream. Starring Jonelle Brooks, “a Florida conservative Transsexual with glamorous looks and perfect comedic timing,” the film tells the story of one lusty lady’s journey of self-actualization and all the fun she has along the way.

The press release acknowledges that some people might find it distasteful but porn was never the place to look for “political correctness”:

Trans500 is no way making fun of any Trans woman’s transition struggle but Porn has never been the measure for morality and being politically correct. Director Josh Stone and crew made sure to be aware that some may find the issue touchy but also to give viewers a high quality comedic Parody with an all-star cast.

While some feminists are always going to take issue with porn of any kind, I actually think this one looks — stay with me, here! — pretty okay, as porn parodies go. It’s got a transgender actress in a transgender role (suck it, Jared Leto), and it appears to show her doing a variety of sex things with a variety of people, putting the lie to the widespread notion that trans women are attracted to men exclusively. Also, Brooks appears to have a penis, showing that trans identity is about more than just genitalia. If cisgender celebrities can be mocked in crude, NSFW fashion by the pornographers of the world, then by golly, so can trans ones.

Of course, there’s an argument to be made that having separate porn categories for trans women, BBWs, Latinas, and every other marginalized group fetishizes people and reduces them to whatever non-white-straight-cis identity they have. (Then again, mainstream porn is also catering to the fetish for straight white cis women with giant boobs, so maybe everyone’s being fetishized equally?) I’d also argue that porn is a reflection of society’s id and not its root cause. It would be nice to live in a world where things like race and gender are so unimportant that everyone masturbates to every type of person equally, remarking only on their fine personal qualities. But until then, people are going to have their preferences, and porn will be there to fill those needs.
