Mayoral candidate wants to ‘eradicate gays,’ cites Kim Davis as inspiration
A kook named Eugene Holmes is running for mayor of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, on a basically anti-gay ticket and he cites Kentucky’s Kim Davis as an inspiration, reported Raw Story.
“In my administration I would do just like Mrs. Davis did in Kentucky,” Holmes said. “If you elect me, I’ll uphold the law of the state of North Carolina. I would get the D.A. to swear out a warrant on any man who says he’s gay. Sodomy is a crime, a felony in the state of North Carolina.”
Shockingly, it’s true that 12 states, including North Carolina, still have sodomy laws on their books. But to call Holmes’ views medieval would be too kind. They’re Bronze Age at best.
Expouding upon his anti-gay views, Holmes told the King’s Mountain Herald:
“What’s wrong with eradicating homosexuals? We should jail them, throw them all in jail!”
All signs point to Holmes being a loose cannon with a few screws loose, and not exactly a serious candidate. According to an article in the Shelby Star from last year, Holmes sought office before and was charged with disorderly conduct after shouting “inflammatory and degrading remarks about homosexuals” outside a church. He’s also a convicted felon and spent four and a half years in prison for larceny. He goes by the nickname “Sherlock” and has been diagnosed by doctors as experiencing “religious hallucinations.”
But he doesn’t take it in the butt so vote for him!
