Fart fight breaks out at Sloppy Joe’s
A couple in their fifties were involved in a violent brawl with other patrons of Sloppy Joe’s bar in Key West “over a fart,” reports the Charlotte Observer:
“The argument was due to someone farting,” police were told by a man who went to the hospital for a dislocated shoulder after the scrap.
Apparently, the alleged fart resulted in a nasty exchange of words between Richard McBride, his girlfriend Sandra Stoner, and another woman, with other patrons quickly getting involved in the flatulence-fueled fracas:
An unidentified man tried to pull the woman away as others began to step into the dispute, including McBride, who pushed the man, police said. The man retaliated by striking McBride in the face and McBride responded by tackling, Stoner told police.
For some unknown reason, Sloppy Joe’s streams live video from its bar on its website. So anyone watching at the time may have been privy to the unruly fart-fight.
It’s not the first incidence of fart-related violence to gain media attention by any means. Just last year a teenager on Staten Island assaulted a classmate for the same reason. (Of course the power of farts can also be harnessed for good.)
At least it didn’t devolve into an outright fart battle of the type apparently practiced in 14th century Japan.
Then things could have really gotten ugly.
