Frank Oz doesn’t deny that Yoda is going to be in ‘The Last Jedi’
What fun would a “Star Wars” movie be without endless speculation about every last possible detail? Nerf herders have been speculating for seemingly ages whether or not Yoda will appear in “The Last Jedi,” as if they were themselves peering into the innards a bird that will augur the future. (It’s called haruspicy. Look it up.)
Anyhoo, legendary puppeteer, director, writer, and overall badass Frank Oz carefully avoided the topic during an interview with Variety at South by Southwest. Oz doesn’t say anything that would break an NDA and/or cause J.J. Abrams to send over some goons to break his knees, but he perhaps inadvertently intimates that he might have his hand up Yoda’s butt in “The Last Jedi.”
“I feel like I’m a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number. To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I’ve been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me.”
And so we wait on tenterhooks.
