Trump officials thought Obama was kidding about not hiring Flynn

Monday, NBC News reported three independent sources from the Obama administration confirmed that two days after the presidential election, President Obama warned President-elect Donald Trump against appointing Russian stooge Michael Flynn as his national security adviser.

Obama cautioned the then-president-elect at the same November 10 meeting during which he told the tangerine-hued Grimace impersonator about how Washington’s top national security concern, for the time being, would be North Korea’s potential threat as a nuclear power.

Flynn resigned in disgrace back in February after The Washington Post revealed he was compromised through inappropriate communications with the Kremlin during the Trump administration’s transition period. One Trump administration official told NBC that Obama made it clear during the meeting he was “not a fan” of Flynn. Another adviser said they believed Obama’s comments about Flynn were meant as a joke.

More from NBC News:

According to all three former officials, Obama warned Trump against hiring Flynn. The Obama administration fired Flynn in 2014 from his position as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, largely because of mismanagement and temperament issues.

Trump named Flynn as his national security adviser. Flynn, who was conducting private conversations with the Russian ambassador regarding sanctions, was then fired three weeks into the administration for misleading Vice President Pence about those conversations.

NBC News’s story is timely enough, given that former acting U.S. Attorney General Sally Yates is slated to testify before a Senate judiciary panel on Monday afternoon, testimony for which President Trump seems pretty nervous about.

Hours before NBC News’s story, Trump both defended Flynn and attacked Yates via Twitter in typical cuck fashion.

“General Flynn was given the highest security clearance by the Obama Administration,” POTUS tweeted before 8 a.m. Monday, “but the Fake News seldom likes talking about that.” Three hours later, Trump followed up with a slight against Yates and a grammatical error. “Ask Sally Yates, under oath, if she knows how classified information got into the newspapers soon after she explained it to W.H. Counsel.”

Former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency James Clapper is also set to testify Monday afternoon. Both are scheduled to appear around 2:30 p.m.

As the web continues to tangle between the drip-drip of Obama officials’ leaks to the press and Trump officials pushing back against what appears more and more to be a massive cover-up of greater proportions than that of Watergate, the answer to one question still remains unclear: When does the piss tape come out?
