Man fatally stabs two people who tried to stop him from yelling slurs at Muslim women
Two men were stabbed to death on Friday night in Portland, Oregon after trying to stop another MAX train passenger who was screaming at two Muslim women. A third person was also stabbed, but is expected to survive.
35-year-old Jeremy Joseph Christian was arrested on Friday night and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on Saturday morning on suspicion of aggravated murder and attempted murder, according to The Oregonian.
Christian was yelling at two women, one of whom was wearing a hijab, on a MAX train when three other passengers tried to stop him. The men who tried to intervene were then “attacked viciously” as Christian pulled out a knife and began slashing them, according to police Sgt. Pete Simpson.
Simpson said Christian was using “hate speech or biased language” and one witness claims he told the two women, “Get off the bus and get out of the country because you don’t pay taxes here.” Simpson also said Christian was “talking about a lot of different things, not just specifically anti-Muslim.”
One stabbing victim died at the scene of the attack while the other died later at the hospital. Neither of the two women were harmed.
The FBI released a statement offering support for the investigation.

UPDATE 1:07 PM: Christian is a known white supremacist who was hoping to assault some protesters with a baseball bat at the March for Free Speech back in April, but instead settled for walking around doing the Nazi salute all day when the cops took his bat away from him.
